Premère Classe

So my roomie that is doing fashion photography just gave me a passe to Première Classe wich is a tradeshow going on at the same time as the Fashionweek. Last year I got it from Yumiko which is holding a KTZ boutique by Etienne Marcel, and now I got it from Munia.
And now!... I just need to find time to go there!!

The first week in school has been pretty calm, its just next week that is going to be crazy after all the things we have to hand in every week!

But as a fashion designer you never sleep, and as Valntine Gauthier said: "...and u never get maternity leave either!" Thank god I never had in mind of leaving school for a baby then :P

News from fashionweek

Karim Bonnet, the artist I've been working late with was in the fashionmagazine they handed out at Amaya's show:
"Its been about ten years that he has been presenting his collections. He presents his artzy universe by big lines out of paint on second hand clothes, stamped with patterns from the big consuming society we live in.With co-operation with SNCF since 2002, and with his invitation in form of a ticket, he also has his fashionshow on the quai of Gare du l'Ouest.
Gala: Summer 2011, sombre or light?
K.B: Coulourful, light with focus on paint and transfer, traditional weaves using new materials, like pearl necklaces made into fabrics.
Gala: The fashion faux pas?
K.B: An excess of sailor stripes, conventional coulours that are the "must-wear", like shocking pink and red.
Gala: This summer's accessory?
K.B: Hair accessories made with feathers to add a touch of sky, clouds and freedom to hair. A bit of urban Indian maiden."

Dominique Chavard (my school director) was also found in the Fashion Daily news.

Fashionweek day1: Amaya Arzuaga

We finished class early to get some seats at Amaya Arzuaga’s fashionshow at Jardin de Plantes.

Apparently its one of the new designers from Spain squatting at TOTEM’s.

The shoes that made everybody drop dead on the floor, even 3 models!
The shoe seems to be made out of two soles superpositioned which made the models walk with bent knees and with their upperbody laid back.

ASVOFF 2009 Winners Excerpts
envoyé par AShadedView. - Futurs lauréats du Sundance.

A rainy sunday. I spent it at Beaubourg. I first watched a good quantity of fashionfilms participating at the fashion filmfestival A shaded View On Fashion Film by Diane Pernet. There were some good films, but it can easily get rediculous, how do you do a good film of just the fashion in a video?..I then took a look at the new expos ARMAN and GABRIEL OROZCO. Made me gag looking at the garbage can from 40 years back...

But this car is way to cool for school though. As Antonin sais "it should replace all the stupid scooters in Paris!"

Fashionweek

This week has been hectic. Fashionweek means everybody works about 12h per day the week before. At Karim's studio they worked from 9 to 21h, of course Karim himself works until 23h or something like that.

I also stopped by the PR-agency TOTEM, where I interned in April, and the interns looked like they had a blast stamping all the 7000 invites! They had been working from 10 to 23h30 the past days...

I got my schedule for this year, and its full of events and theres a lot of work ahead of me. Im exited! We're also gonna work with Valentine Gauthier http://www.valentinegauthier.com/ for our class in Style.

First day at school, so they decided to give us a one week intesive workshop in patternmaking. We had this exercise where we were suppose to tape each other, we were so beautiful in ducktape...
Then I continued working at Karim Bonnet's studio. He had written an email to school asking if there were any students interested in helping him out with his collection, that he is gonna show at the fashionshow next week. I decided to take advantage of being in this school. We get so many internship offers from school, and most of it we can't do for the moment since we have class and the internships are often fulltime. But Karim doesn't ask more than as much help as he can get before his fashionshow, and since we only have this workshop this week, and don't really have any projects to work on at home, I decided to go to his studio.
He has his cute little studio close to Barbès and Karim is just a very chill artist enjoying what he is doing, love it!

Alexander Wang's SS 2011

I can't believe this guy. Why is it that some people can make ducktape on clothes cool?...unfair...

Paris sur le toits

A rainy day in Paris

Arcade Fire+Google chrome

Arcade Fire and Google has been co-working to make this interactive music video using google chrome. I love this music and I think the webdesign is pretty clean and fresh. So go to thewildernessdowntown.com and write down your hometown where you were born, and the music video will your own little music video.

Ikea=Volvo=Cheap Monday

I asked my sister if she could buy me a pair of Cheap Monday jeans before she comes here. Because even if it's not much, it's still cheaper in sweden then it is here in Paris, to buy Cheap Mondays.
So I was looking thru their website and found some really nice silhuettes.
Like this one from SS2011

..and then I found the art of making holes in your clothes amazing again.

Fête de l'Huma

This has been a tiring but fun weekend.
I went to Fête d l'Huma in the outskirt of Paris. A big festival organised by the journal L'Humanité, where all the communist parties and associations that are attched, meets. It's a big festival for not much money. To pay 19€ to see Prodigy is pretty cheap. So there you have the people that are strongly politicaly involved, but also a lot of young people that are there for the concerts.
I'm starting to get used to sleepingbags, tents and spiders.

Vogue Fashion Celebration Night

Carine Roitfeld talks Fashion Celebration Night from Signature9 on Vimeo.

Today was a night where you can go visit all the luxury shops on avenue montaigne. There was a lot of people for cocktail there, and a lot of clothes with prices you're just gonna drool over. "yes, I think I'm gonna by a teddy bear for my kid for 1000€ at Dior baby..."

Well, if you have the chance you might get a glimpse of Karl Lagerfeldt's hair...;)

Le bruit des glaçons

Yesterday I went to see Le Bruit des Glaçons. a french movie with a black humour. It was funny, but a bit too weird for my taste. I don't like when a russian orchestra suddenly appearce in your room out of nowhere. But it had some good actors (and I also spent my holidays where they filmed it). And a lot of french people seems to like the producer. He also directed Les Valseuses, which I saw on Cinema en plein air earlier in august.

all kind of different flavours of Savon Marseillaise. It's like eye candy. And of course billiards with the hands.

So, welcome to my tent at MIAMI camping. A very comfy and spacious...space...with as many mosquitos you want, and if you also wish antz, you got plenty of them!

Taking a walk by the harbour before bedtime.

Canetplage as we remember it. Taking baths on an empty beach 8pm. It can't get better.

The ghetto of Perpignan. A small city in the south west.

Coullioure. A small picturesque village by the coast. Very touristique though.

I had a very simple (but expensive) salad in this restaurant in the heart of Toulouse. I now try to do this salad once in a while at home. I usualy never do salads at home, but was thinking 'why not'! So I'm now doing this simple salad out of roquette, with a simple vinegrette, sliced bananas, chevre cheese, topped with raisins and roasted almonds and honey. YUMMY!

Cow competition in Brive-La-Gaillarde. I seriously don't know how they judge....you dont even got the chance to see them in bikinis.

Fishing for crawfish in the garden. scary....

SESSUN

I noticed it in a small boutique in Brive (a tiny village in the middle of France, where only cows and tauruses get noticed...). And when I got back to Paris, I saw it in Citadium. And I think I want two of their winterjackets!!
