Batizado 2009

I'm so happy with today. I woke up around half past eight. The sun was shining. I went to CHampion and bought some breakfast. I sat on the terasse and had my petit dejeuner tranquille...
11:30 I went to stade de Caubertin where the Batizado was gonna be. This years batizado was sooooo much better! A brazilian music band was playing, we danced samba, it was GREAT! I got my white-orange corde. It felt like this years Batizado past by way faster than last year. Like it wasn't as boring waiting for everyone to get their corde. (For everyone that doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about: Every year all capoeira groups have their Batizado, which means you get baptized. You get your nickname, and you get graded, the teachers play with you and give you a corde, which corresponds to your level, kind of. I haven't been very into capoeira this year, It's just been the last past weeks that I've been coming like 2 times a week. I was a bit unsure if I was gonna get upgraded, but I did. I felt a bit bad though, because Juliana, that has a really good level, and has been very devoted to the association and helped out a lot, got the same cord as me, which isn't very fair. So as Fernando (one of the teachers) said to me it's all the same, it doesn't really mean anything, the cords are just there to hold up your pants.
I hope I will be able to continue the classes next year. But before that I still have the whole summer with lots of capoeira in the parc!
I need to rest my body, and certainly my arm, I think Fernando twisted it in a weird way.

An awesome and tiring day

Today I had a great day at work, although I walked around as a ghost, but everybody were awesome, it was a good ambiance, it was just nice!
I asked Thibault to finish earlier today, the capoeira people had a workshop/picknick at Champs de Mars. The workshop has actually been going on the whole week, but I was too lazy to go. Five teachers from Brazil are here holding all the classes. Today the advanced students got to learn Ju-Jitsu/self defense. It was really fun, and I got to learn a lot which will help me get more secure walking alone in the dark in Bois de Vincennes :S
I need to go to bed now. I'm so tired. Yesterday I met Alison and Moa for the first time in two years. Alison's family moved to Paris and she is going to stay here for some weeks, and Moa just visited. We walked around on Ile de Cité and had ice cream, it was a lot of people outside having picnik last night. But that also caused me not sleeping very much last night. So I need to do it tonight, so I will keep up the energy for tomorrow.
Bonne nuit!

The posters for Angelin Preljocaj's Blanche Neige is all over Paris Metro, and I really want to see the performance!!! It's gonna be in Chateau de Versaille the 1st of July. Have to remember to go to FNAC and reserve the tickets..!
...and they are wearing costumes made by Jean Paul Gaultier that I really wanna see too.

What else has happened on my side of the planet: Paris has gone from superhot and humid to winter again. It's unbelievable how the climate is changing. Sunday I burned my but from lying on the terasse in bikini, and now I'm wearing my combatboots that I wore this winter.

Today I finaly got one step further with my dress that I'm gonna wear for Cissi's wedding. It's gonna turn out pretty nice I think (I hope) It has to, fabrics in Paris are very expensive, so I don't really have afford to make any mistakes right now :P
I'll post some pictures on the dress tomorrow, right now it's wrinkled down in a plastic bag. I fell asleep as soon as I got home this afternoon, and I woke up around midnight, so I didn't really have time to take the photos this evening.

I'm just gonna be lying a bit more sleepless, getting distressed of starting school next year. I don't know how I will make it, especially with the french and everything. Ugh...I just saw the fashion show from FIDM, and it's so big, I got really inspired. I was actually thinking about applying, but it's too american style for me. I don't know if I could handle the whole LA fashion industry. I mean fashion industry in general is not me, wait, remind me why i'm doing this again. Even though I think it's easier to get good publicity in the US, I'm glad I ended up staying in Paris for school, it feels a bit more down to earth, and not too influenced by media. I need to try to go to bed now. Big Kiss.

Bollywood dancing

I can't stop watching Joshua and Katee. I just feel like dancing everytime I see them dance. I don't think they would be that good alone, it's just because they work so good together as a couple, and I love the choreograhpy.

Yesterday I was surprised. My flatmates had thrown together a party. I came home around midnight, and heard loud music coming from somewhere. And it grew louder as I came closer to our house. They had decorated the terasse with candles and had put on iranian music. It was really pretty.

TOday I just worked from 11 to 19. It was so calm today, really nice actually.

Right now I need to get started with the Local Motors competition :P
I really need to try to do it.

Birthday dinner

Yesterday I was invited for a dinner Baptiste and Esther had organized as a birthday dinner for me. It was really nice. I even got my birthcake with candles! LOL

It's 6:30, and I need to get ready to go to work :P I'm gonna fall asleep on the way but that's fine. I will be done around noon, so I'll just go home and sleep after that!
Tonight I suggested to my dear friends that we go to La Cordonnerie for free couscous, it was gonna be a brunch on my terasse, but I looked at the meteo today and it showed a big lightning, so maybe not :P

Tuileries in the sun

I feel very dizzy from the afternoon in the Tuileries. It was nice though. For a really long time we haven't had sun, but today it finaly came, so me, Vincent and Camille sat down at the Tuileries to get some sun.

Today I woke up by a message from CAF saying: You have to declare your salary before the 29th of May!!!
Aah!! so I got up, I sat in front of the computer the whole morning soulsearching about how to declare your salary. I'm still not sure, but I'm just gonna go to the place des impôts and see what they have to say. Although I only have a week to do it, so.....!!!!
I wanted to cry this morning, and had a few tears coming on my way to work, so i thought today was gonna be one of those cry-tiring days. But when I came to work, Memo was there and made me laugh so hard. So sad he is gonna leave, so sad...:(
BUT I mean I didn't get away from the fact that I actually had to do a mistake today.
I accidentaly tapped in 87,00€ on the creditcard machine instead of 8,70€. The stupid thing was I noticed I tapped the 0 twice, but I was like: hmm, something doesn't look right here, well, it doesn't matter, it doesn't make a difference.
So the client tapped the code, and then she was like no wait a minute it's 87, instead of 8,7 €! So she didn't even noticed until after. Anyways, I handed her back the amount in cash, so no bigger damage caused. She was a very kind client too so I was lucky!

Bruised Lee

After been having the skinniest and talest guy as a partner in advanced capoeira, left half of my body is totaly bruised. It hurts......!!!

I just wanna cry. buhuuu....

This whole day I've just wanted to cry. The whole day. During work I wanted to smash a plate up a customers face, they just treat you like their servants and think it can help putting a stupid grin on their face....:S
Then I take Anjinho's class, and realize I suck, and have lost the base of my training...the worse thing is I DON*T CARE more than he do. I just do it for fun, and am not planning on becoming an elite in capoeira, but when people say they are disappointed, I start to doubt myself, and ask why I'm not working harder.
...I'm trying to find a good thing that happened today...I can't. Well yeah, the sun was out...
I woke up at 10:00 am. I worked for only 3 hours, and still when I got home after work, I went to sleep and felt like shit...I don't know what's wrong with me. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I eat good, I exercise (a lot!), I have wonderful friends, great family, and I still feel exhausted, like I'm always out of energy. I don't know why this is.
I need to go and see a shrink soon. Not because I think I have a major problem or think that he/she will be able to help me, but I'm just curious about what he/she would say about me. I've always been curious to see one, I think it's interesting to see myself from another perspective, and it feels better if a professional who doesn't know me talks about me, than a friend who actually knows me, feels more unpersonal...I was just talking BS there....I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm just gonna take a shower and watch desperate housewives and go to bed, lol. BON NUIT mes amours!

La nuit des musées

Tonight is La Nuit Des Musées. I was at Beaubourg tonight. A lot of museums are open til 2 am tonight, and it's free! So all of Paris took advantage of it!

Watching a film of the circus that the american artist/engineer Alexander Calder created (between 1926 and 1931) out of small figures he had made out of recycled materials, animated by simple mechanisms.

I really liked theese sculptures by Nikki de Saint Phalle.
The crucifixion and... I don't remember the name of the other one that looks like a bride.

A guy working at the museum trying to tell the story behind a piece of art called Udnie by Francis Picabia, 1913.
Then some random man comes out from nowhere saying:
(the random man)-Hey! I saw your other colleagues talking about other paintings as well!!!...
(Guy working at the museum)- Ok, well...anyways...
-No! I just wanna say that all the stuff you say is BULLSHIT! You are not telling the truth!!!
Other people keep telling the man to shut up and let the guy talk about the piece of art.
(the man):No, but why are you listening to all this BULLSHIT!!
people laughing
(the guy): No, ok, let's hear what this man has to say about the art.
(the old man): Well, its...paint and form.
people keep laughing.
An old lady leaves saying:-Can you please just let the young man talk and say what he was going to say. You're boring us out!
(the old man): Well, I prefer to tell you all the truth and bore you out than just let this man talk about a bunch of crap!
another man: Can You just let us hear what he has to say, we don't care...
the old man: IT'S EXACTLY THAT, That is the problem! You don't care! I bet you're just doing this to get paid(looking at the guy working at the museum) but I can't listen to you talking about contemporary art, I'm out of hear.
So people expect the young man to continue talk about the painting. And he says:
-Well, I guess we need to keep circulating.
And people still just stood there waiting for him to talk more about the painting.
-No, actually there is no more, it was set up.

So FUCKING LAME!

Paris Beaubourg by night.

Too tired to sleep

OMG, I just came home from a capoeira class. We did a roda outside of Montparnasse. It was great. They all did a birthday roda for me and Motoristo. Really tiring. I'm definitely getting sick. I played barefeet on the ground, and it was a bit cold :P But oh well, it only happens once a year. I just have to give a shout-out to all the capoerists, mes amours!
I'm trying to sleep now, because I have to wake up at 6h tomorrow morning, but I don't really manage too. I'm gonna re-try.

Bon nuit mec!

May, the month of births

I just logged in on Facebook and saw the list of all my friends' upcoming birthdays. I swear every day in May is a birthday for someone I know. Hilarious...:)
My sewing class was cancelled today because of a water leak, no wonder, yesterday I thought it was the end of Paris existence, looked like it was gonna disappear under water because it was pooring rain . Kind of cosy actually :)

sleepless

How is it possible to be sleepy but not tired?
I've been walking around like a ghost the whole day today. I slept the whole way to and from work in the metro. I almost fell asleep watching the swedish news around 19h, but forced myself to stay awake, just so that I would be able to sleep now. But NO, now I can't sleep.

I feel so ignored...:(

I tried to get in contact with CAF today. Because I've been writing them letters, I've been e-mailing them, and now I decided to call them. But how can they just hang up on you like that. I feel so dissed...HATE CAF 4-ever is all I have to say.

I don't know what to think

SOmeone showed me this video a couple of years ago. It's a co work between fashion designer Issey Miyake and choreographer William Forsythe. I love the music, but I think the clothes are horrible, and it all looks like a music video from the 80's. It reminds me of a Michael Jackson music video or something close.
But I would love to use dancers as models for my work. Seriously, I don't know how models can be so demanded in the fashion business. Dancers have the bodies and the charisma on stage AND they know how to move. Sometimes I look at a fashionshow, and the people just bore me to death. Dancers are multitasking people!

My package arrived!

Yey, I came home from work with exitement. My packages from Laredoute were waiting for me, I've now tried the sewing machine and put together the mannequin which so far everything works splendid!
I wish I could stay at home and sew a bit, but I've only had time to watch the dvd manual and try a few stitches. The dvd manual is gonna help me a lot, there are so many functions on this machine I don't know how to use, AND it explains really well (with an american cheeky accent :) LOL
Anyways, I'm off to yoga class now!
