Salon de Marriage

This is the fashionshow of Salon de Marriage, which me and some friends from the class are helping out with.

The world is very tiny! Laetitia and me went to Ballet Junior in Geneva together, and just by coincidence we're finding each other at the same fashionshow...

A long evening

Yesterday me and Adrien went to see Ruban Blanc, a very dark movie.

We were walking down the street and saw a 2 seat couch by Place de Clichy. We sat down, watched the people pass by, We ordered Pizza. Then we decided to take the coach with us. In the metro. Lucky there are nice and helpful people in Paris, to help us lifting it up over the grill.
So now we have a two-seat couch, for free!

courage! J-1

I haven't been sleeping for 2 weeks now, all I look forward to is vacation!
It starts friday evening, although we have A LOT of work during the vacation, I'm just looking forward to be able to sleep until 11 and then work in my own rythm.
This weekend I'm assisting a bridal fashionshow. Although it is going to be interesting I was looking forward to be sleeping this weekend.
Appartement searching is going soso. We visited a nice appartement this evening, we thought we had it, until a couple of families and another man came to visit the same evening. So we'll just have to wait and see.
I need to continue working for the TEXTIL class tomorrow.

huff! It's amazing how little you can have luck on your side...

This day have been no more than a waste of time.
During the pause I ran to the art supply store to get a white board. I felt a bit stressed because it was during lunch and I didn't have my breakfast so I really wanted to have a calm lunch.
You know how when you get to the cashierpoint, you have two cashiers on each side, and you don't really know which one to choose...
Well this lady before me had like 50 markers up on the counter, and I was about to say "well the cashier is not gonna tic every single o.....when she started to register each single marker, and continued.
So I changed cashier, and this lady was as fast as a dead snail. I couldn't believe it, and she really had to be superpolite to the lady infront, helping her with her bag and waiting until she was gone before she started to take my stuff. "
3,50€, s'il vous plaît" I take up my card and she goes: No c'est trop peu.
URGH!! No sign in the store there is a card limit WTF....she shows me where the nearest ATM machine is, I run over to the other side of the street, have 2 cars beeping at me because I was about a milimeter away from my own death!
I reach the ATM machine store and it says: PAS DISPONIBLE
OK!...
I ask 2 women about the closest ATM machine, they don't know.
I see a small Societé General sign far away, I go there and I wait for a while for the traffic light to turn green and finaly it does, I stand in line to the ATM, and I see a BNP banque across the street, yey I cross the street again, and I finaly get my money.
I run back to the art store, stressed and everybody looks at me like I'm the most evil person in the world. I ask about my stuff that their colleague put aside for me, and they go "well, you should know where she put it!" huh?? Well, ok, i'm not even gonna go there bitches...
I pay, I show my student ID card to get my 15% reduction, the lady behind the cashier take a long look at our handmade student card(seriously the school could make a bit more effort to make us real cards...)
I run back to class and arrive just in time, and I have a banana for lunch!

Our TEXTILE teacher has a bit of a hard time explaining to us what we're doing, which makes us not very concentrated in class. No one is prepared with the right materials and so on. Which causes us, tired in the afternoon walking around in the studio talking instead, I think she got pretty tired of us, but I have to say it's not totaly our fault. This class is apparently new, and our year is the first one that has this subject, probably why it's a bit vague. So not being productive in class leads to even more HOMEWORK!!! ugfh....I feel like my eyes are popping out soon...very soon...

First model we have to hand in

I sat up the whole night last night making my "thing" for the modelisme class.
As I've mentioned we had to make a top out of 3 XL t-shirts and the theme was gathers.
So my first top that I've showed you wasn't at all in the theme, and my teacher Tuan said that it just didn't have anything to do with what we we're doing...I seriously felt hopeless.
So last night I spent 7h coming up with this thing...:P

A missinterpreted week :(

All work I've been returning this week has been just bad, when I've been looking on my grades...
I seem to think my work is pretty good, then when I get to school there's always something I have forgotten or missunderstood, and it's driving me nuts! I guess that's for going to a school in a country with a foreign language. But I also think the teachers are a bit bad with explaining what they really want, because even the french kids don't get 100% of what we're suppose to hand in every week.
Right now, I'm just overwhelmed with work, I can't even think clearly. It's really fun, and I'm learning so much new stuff, new techniques which I love, It's great, It's just a lot a lot!
And this weekend I'm suppose to work at Cojean both saturday and sunday :P Stupid SALE!

An Angel In My Room

So the mannequin is what I've been working on. That is the 3 t-shirts I got from TATI.
I'm not done yet, but soon. I'm saving some things to do, because we are suppose to finish it after class on tuesday, so I can't be doing the whole thing at home.

Nuit Blanche

Its Nuit Blanche right now. And not Nuit Blanche because you're in a cool gallery or museum looking at art. No, Nuit Blanche, because you're tired but yet you can't sleep because your exited, stressed and slightly panicked and overwhelmed to say the least. I was suppose to sleep, to get up early in the morning tomorrow and try to be productive, but that's not the case right now because I'm way too exited and stressed at the same time.
Antonin (classmate) told me his grandmother had a studio she is renting out in Levallois, and it's free at the moment, so I would be soo happy if I could move there.
And then Tomoko wrote me to say she has 2 passes for the fashion tradeshow Premiere Classe. It's been fashion week in Paris this past week.
Me, Antonin, Charles and Victoria tried to get in friday, but it didn't really work. Then we had organized ourselves to go and draw mannequins, but the addresses Emanuelle (our style/illustration teacher) gave us, were either wrong, or the boutique didn't have any mannequins, or we could just draw from like a 10m distance! So we all agreed it was an unsuccessful afternoon. Anyways, so the question is who I'm gonna take with me to the Premiere Classe since I only have 2 passes...
And in the middle of all the mess, things I need to do if I move:
Change my adress for everything I'm in contract with: cellphone, banque, school. Change insurance, get assurance d'habitation, get money back from my last assurance d'habitation.
Get a NEUF/Free BOX :P
Can't believe I'll have to deal with them myself. After been having so much trouble with the internet last summer I was hoping I would never ever have to deal with them again. But I guess you should never say never...

Friday, October 2, 2009

I've been working on my drawings for illustration class. As I said, it's hard to work with ink, if you don't really know what you're doing...I've never liked to work with it, but here I'm forced to do it, so I'm posting one that I thought turned out OK.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Today was a long day of Illustration and style.
We continued working on drawing a part of a silhouette on a mannequin, then we had to draw a silhouette from a fashion magazine with ink, which was a pain the ass. Because as soon as you make a small mistake putting down your pencil on the wet paper, you're pretty much screwed up.
But I ended up with one kinda good drawing, that I've scanned to show you it.

Schinichi Maruyama

Nikki mentioned some of her friend working for Donna Karan in New York, so I could try to contact her if I wanted an internship there. So I took a look at DKNY's website and read about Schinichi Maruyama being one of her inspiration sources. I looked up his work and find it very peaceful.

YOGA-Sunday

This morning I took a vinyasa-class at this beautiful studio by Belleville.
Anna was teaching, and it was just not what I was used to at the Bikramstudio, it felt sooo good though. After the class we got to taste some weird stuff by this lady that does catering in raw food. It was really good, I just didn't know really what I was eating.
Then, me, Anna and Nikki had a drink at a café and picknick in Butte Chaumont which was really nice.
I'm now at home ready to do my assignment for school, it's just that I'm not 100% sure what the assignement is about. So, I'll just wait for tomorrow and ask my classmates about it :P

SuperHeroines

Cojean is going to have a big b-day party, and the theme is superheroe...
I'm thinking about superheroines, with an awesome costume...
I don't wanna do Wonderwoman, or Batgirl...
Might be: Sailor Mars or Darna...

Well, I don't wanna walk around in bikini a whole evening...

My first day at school. Three hours of nude drawing=awesome!!!

One respond, yes!...or NO!

So of all the calls we did this afternoon, I had one guy calling me back. He sounded very stressed and rude on the phone, but whatever.
It was by M°Telegraphe. When I got there it was already a couple there.
Later we were 3 couples and me.
So we saw the building, that was under construction, so the view from the actual appartement, well, let's just say there was no view!
The first appartement looked ok, it was under construction as well. The only problem was you had to go through one of the rooms to go to the bathroom...and we don't want that.
The 2nd appartement had a nice kitchen...period!
There you also had to go through the first room to get to the 2nd room, which was about half the size and triangle, and the bathroom was about half the size of our current bathroom(which is already tiny).
The others seemed very interested in the place, I just tried to figure out an excuse to get out of there.
Why would you wanna pay 1100€ for a place you can only use about 60% of because it's not symmetrical!!!
I think I'm going under.
I'm sorry if I'm sounding too french, but I now understand why the french complain so much.

calling ads

"Hello
We just found your appartement ad, and wonder if it's still current?
-Yes.
...so would it be possible to visit it?
-Yes. WHat do you do?
Juliana:I'm a student, doing sportstudies...
-How are you going to pay?
...by cheque or cash...why?
-Oh, no other way?..."

Oh so I c, now you have to be a prostitute to be able to rent an appartement?...

"Hi
We just saw your appartement ad and would like to know if it's still available?
-In what sense?"

...huh? what sense? well in what sense are you putting an appartement ad for??? stupid!

THAT'S HOW WELL OUR APPARTEMENT RESEARCH ARE GOING!

The Ugly Truth

I was on the right mood for a stupid, romantic comedy.
The best part about this movie was when one of the carachteres Colin, takes of the shirt, and some girls in the audience goes "aah...", hilarious...

Whatever Works

I ended up watching Whatever Works instead of La Haut. It was pouring rain this evening, so the perfect movie night. And I was just in the right mood for a Woodie Allen film.

C'est la rentrée

Four days of cinema! Yay!
All movies in the theaters are 4€, I'll finaly have afford watching movies!
Tonight, me and Nyko went and saw Inglorious Bastards, it was pretty good. I haven't been much of a Quentin Tarantino fan. But I was surprised I could actually follow the story, and I didn't have to put my hands infront of my face during the whole movie.
Tomorrow I'll probably go and see La Haut. :D

had about zero hours of sleep...

Yesterday was my free day from Cojean, and I was suppose to do things I had to do, but instead my bed looked really comfortable and I decided to fall asleep for a couple of hours. After that a friend from the capoeira had an apero. It was really cool, but it became a bit late considering I'm starting work 7:30 today. So yeah...my alarm is ringing right now, and I should get up. I've been trying to sleep for a while now, but haven't been able to. I have too many things in my head, but so I decided to look for appartement ads. I've been looking on craigslist, I haven't been on that website for a while now, just because there's a lot of scam there, but I thought I might give it a try.
I need to go to work now :P
It's so dark outside, it feels like winter...

Exhaustion

This day was loooong. Whenever I'm not closing the restaurant it feels like I'm working forever...
After work I went to Vincent's appartement. It's really nice there. I tried to contact a friend to see what was up with his appartement but he hasn't responded yet, which makes me stressed. I don't know what I'm gonna do...Aaaah
I was thinking about going to Los Mexicanos to dance some Forro with the others, but I just feel soo exhausted that if I go tonight and work 12h tomorrow, in addition to Jess' goodbye party. I'm gonna be dead wednesday. And also theres a festival for short films in Butte Chaumont that I really wanted to see, but that was tonight...so I can forget that as well. shit...

anxious, stressed and exited at the same time

This appartement searching is driving me crazy. I don't wanna do it because I know it's giving me an anxiety attack. I'm definitely gonna pay more in rent this year. And it's driving me nuts since I'm not gonna have as much salary this year!
At the same time, I am ready to get a big room enough to actually be able to work and do my best in school. And all this searching goes parallell with the school starting, and I'm getting nervous just of thinking how busy I'm going to be, too busy to be caring about finding an appartement.
And I have to move in the cold...alone. I'm too afraid of asking people for help, is that going to be a problem in the future?

Last week of august/vacation

This month has had a lot of happenings!
Outdoor movies in the parc, concerts, picknicks in the sunset by the eiffeltower.
It's been vacation, and this past week has been a celebration of the end of the vacation (for others, I don't have vacation...)

Last night we had a soirée Cojean. Kuljit, one of the legends behind the toasters at Cojean are quitting. He has been working for Cojean for 2 years and are going to Tokyo to live the japanese life over there for a year.

But the night ended good, late, or early in the morning. After been eating someones crêpes and pasta in a strangers kitchen, I was finaly in bed 6:30 am ...zzz

Beautiful Sofia Boutella

One of the most inspiring performance artists Sofia Boutella

And I thought I was tired

Last night I went out with some friends to a Brasilian bar. We danced Forro the whole night. It was fun. I didn't sleep much since I came home around 8 in the morning. But interesting enough I felt awesome. I've been working 12 hours straight now, and can feel the fatigue sneaking up on me. I need to get up early tomorrow, working at 7:30 am..!!!
The cleaning guy at the yoga studio has such an "interesting" lifestyle. Not only does he work 7 days a week, from 5am to 12 pm, which leaves him 5 hours to sleep. Then he came up to me today and said today was hard because he is on Ramadan, so he is not eating or drinking much right now...I mean...just to make life even easier...:P

Cissi's wedding gifts

Summer-outdoor movies-and so much fun!

Just got home from the outdoor movie. Me and Jean went to see Dans Paris. Now when the Cinema en plein air at La Villette is done, we took advantage of the other association Forum des Images, organizing outdoor movies in all the arrondissement in Paris. They are the ones that files all the movies that are filmed in Paris. So it's more french movies, while Cinema en plein air at La Villette was more international. But now it's all done with the outdoor movies, we'll have to wait a whole year until it starts again, buhuu...
But this week there are a lot of concerts going on at La Villette, and next weekend there will be concerts at Butte Chaumont so I'll try to go there too.
I'm so happy to be living in this beautiful city, it's been great weather and there are tons of things to do here, GRRRREAT!!

Brunch at Le Pain Quotidien, walk at Paris Plage, and cinema en plein air tonight.

Amistad at Cinema en plein air

Yesterday was a hot day under the sun in Bois de Vincennes. My body is totaly soared from capoeira, it's been about a month since last time I trained.
Lilian then went to a dinner at her friends place in Guy Moquet, while I spent the evening with some friends watching Amistad at Cinema en plein in la Villette. It was such a great evening.

It's 10:12 am now, and we're gonna head off to brunch in the 6th.
Have a nice day!

irritated

I just got in...side my appartement. Lilian arrived last night, I was really happy to see her. But today I got really annoyed, I lent her my key so she could go home before me. I got home just before midnight, and knocked on my appartement door, because the bell doesn't work, so I knocked, and no answer, I knock and kick and bang the door, still no answer. I call Jess to ask if he can call her phone, because it didn't work with my phone. But he didn't reach her either, so I guess it's her phone that doesn't work. So I stood there for a good time...still banging the door. The neighbour asks if something is wrong and offer a bed to me. No, I said, but I did ask if she had her balcony on the same side as us. She hadn't. I'm also not sure if I had dared to climb the facade of the building, we're still 5 stores up :S
Anyways. I keep kicking and banging, Jess offers me a place to stay over the night. The worse thing is I see light in the appartement, and I hear the TV on. So guessed she was asleep.
Then I try to text her. And THERE she comes opening up the door, like everything was peace and love on the whole fucking earth...! &R%EDFTFC FREW""%!!#/

Playing with backgorundcolours

What I was up to 5 in the morning...

going alone to the cinema...

...are probably one of the best things I love to do!
Last night I woke up at 7pm after an evening nap. I felt like the world was going under, so I decided to take a walk, and then ended up in the movietheater watching Harry Potter and the half blood prince alone. It was awesome! The movie was not that good, it was OK, not the best movie I've seen, but it was funny, and I love watching fantasy in the movietheater, because it brings me back to being a child.

I went to bed a bit late around 5 am but I'm planning on staying in the whole day to render my sketches i did last night. I feel like using my WACOM tablet, it's a bit dusty.
Juliana is leaving for Brazil tonight, and Lilian is arriving in Paris tomorrow evening. Wohoo!

moi suedoise??

The other day at work, I went to Bruno and asked what I was suppose to do. He told me to see with Alban and ask if he needed my help.
Me:-Alban, est-ce que tu m'as besoin?
(alban, do you need me?)
Alban:-Quoi? Que est-ce que tu veut dire?
what? what do you mean?)
-Tu m'as besoin ou pas?
(do you need me?!)
-uhm, C'est pas francais que tu parles...
(uhm, it's not french what you're speaking...)

So I went downstairs to the others, and I told Bruno
Me: -C'est pas just de dire <>? Parce qu'il me comprends pas...
(It's not right to say Tu m'as besoin? because he doesn't understand me...)
Bruno: -UHm, que est-ce que tu veut dire?
(what do you mean)
-Ben, jai demandé à Alban s'il avait besoin d'aide, mais il me comprends pas...
-Ah! S'il a besoin DE TOI??
-Ah! oui, ok, s'il a besoin DE MOI...

and then he was like, But what country are you from?
I'm from Sweden, I told him.
What?? You, from Sweden? Really? I thought you were french!...

And during the whole day he asked everyone:
-Did you know Diana was from Sweden??

I'm taking that as a real compliment I guess.

can I too make one?

I started on Cissi's and Micke's wedding gift, I just wish I could draw like Danny Roberts....
